Cajun cooking just like mama's Donn E. Dees comes by his genius for cooking the old fashioned way: He earned it! During his high school years in the early 60's, Donn E. began his apprenticeship at his grandfather's restaurant, Don's Bar-B-Que and Seafood in Jennings. He worked there and cooked at the McNeese University Ranch while attending the Lake Charles school until 1973, when he opened his catering business. In 1991, he and his wife took over the Bayou Country Restaurant and renamed it Donn E's. Though most of Donn E's customers live within a 25-mile radius, he has regulars who drive in from Lafayette, Lake Charles, and Baton Rouge, -- and even one couple that drops in twice a year traveling from Florida to Arizona visiting their children.
